Hmmm... This has happened to me b4.. i was using 100+, Redbull, and gatorade during matches... It seems to have an adverse effect as my body is unable to process and breakdown all those minerals, I ran @ full speed straight for the toilet. #:-s

So far i'm taking pre-workout igniters which gave me the crash-free energy & promotes recovery. (see my signature) During breaks, water would be my best pal! :ymhug:

@ckseong80

Anything in excessive amount is never good. When I was back in malaysia, usually I'll take only 1 can (325ml if I remember correctly). Over here, I just drink plenty of water during break and after training.

Just in case the others are wondering, excessive salts & minerals do damage our kidney to a certain extent, but that will quite a while.

yo yo bro ck..hehe...i'm a lazy student... :p but from wat i've read from newspapers,de best thing to drink is lukewarm saltwater...do not drink cold water,cold isotonic drink..ur body is perspiring at a high temperature,releasing heat...if u drink cold water,ur body wil cool down instantaneously as it is exposed to sudden change in temperature..it might not sound logical to some of u guys here...but to me,it does make sense...hehe

Hi Pinky, wow this stuff is getting confusing now.
I've heard this from a tennis coach before that drinking cold water is better than hot as our body is able to absorb cold water faster.
I think its possible as cold water quenches our thirst better right feeling more relieved.
Also all the pros drink cold drinks as we often see they have a fridge placed behind the players' seat.

Maybe we need another advice from our very own tennis doc!
Doctor Ken.... :-BD

I MUST agree with PINK MING.. I have ever gotten sick on a hot day & gulping down cold water. #-o On that note.. PRO players on tour have different habits... eg. roddick brings in his own 'isotonic' drink from his bag & dump it in the fridge. Federer reaches his hands into the fridge or ask a ball boy to do so for him. Nadal on the other hand has water bottle 'rituals' 2 bottles. One room temp 1 chilled. FOr him, he takes bigger gulps of the room temp water then a sip from the cold bottle. *opps.. i sound like a stalker stalking nadal... He is my tennis GOD :YMPRAY: afterall :)) *

Medical wise, there is not substantial proof that drinking cold water after sports is bad for health but personally I don't do that directly after sports, but usually 30-45 minutes after that. What pink ming mentioned is kinda logical too =P

Hmmmm.... on the other hand, the reason we perspire in the first place is actually to cool our body down.
Therefore would it be bad for our body to get assistance from cold water in cooling it down?
Another point to ponder.
:-?
